For nature lovers, the Paddy's Ranges State Park is a magnificent Box-Ironbark forest where visitors can enjoy wildflower and wonderful displays of golden wattle in the springtime.  Other activities in the state park include bushwalking and camping; picnic areas; and gold prospecting (conditions apply).

Many markets operate through-out the region including the Talbot Farmers Market which takes place on the third Sunday of every month - rain, hail or shine.

Travellers who appreciate fine wines will be spoilt for choice with the many boutique wineries offering full bodies reds and also some white varietals.  Maryborough is part of the Bendigo wine region and also conveniently neighboring the Pyrenees wine region.
